What To Do In Case of a Postal Strike?
The Municipality of Central Huron is advising customers that due to the possible postal strike at Canada Post, delivery of your water sewer bill, taxes, and other invoices or payments mailed to us could be impacted. Please note that you are still responsible for paying your bill on time and that late charges will apply if your payment is late.
Bill Payment Options During a Postal Service Disruption
- Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD): You can save time and money by having your payments automatically deducted from your bank account on or about the same day each month
- Drop-Box: Cheque or money order payments can be made in the 24-hour drop box at the front of the municipal office (23 Albert Street, Clinton, ON, N0M 1L0)
- Cash, Cheque or Debit: We accept these payments in the municipal office at 23 Albert Street, Clinton, ON. The office is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Local Bank or Trust Company: Payments can be made at your local bank or trust company during normal office hours
- Telephone Banking: This option is available through most banks and trust companies. It allows you to pay your bill by use of your touch-tone phone.
- Internet Banking: This option is available through most banks and trust companies. It allows you to pay your bill through the internet.
- PaySimply: Pay online via Interac e-Transfer or credit card. Note that PaySimply applies a convenience fee to cover payment handling and processing charges. To make an online payment, follow the links to:
- make Property Tax payments (use a property roll number as the account number)
- make Water Sewer payments (use your account/customer number as the account number)
- make Other payments (i.e. dog tag license fees or facility rental fees - use your invoice number as the account number)

Yes. In the event of a postal service disruption, customers are responsible for keeping their accounts current. |
How can customers find out their amount owing and when their bill is due? |
Call the Municipality of Central Huron at 519-482-3997 to obtain your account balance from one of our staff. |

What should be included with a payment if a cheque or money order is dropped off? |
Customers should include the return stub from their bill and/or their name, address, phone number, and account number with any cheque or money order payment. |
What if the Municipality of Central Huron receives my payment late? |
Consistent with our normal practice, late payments are subject to additional charges. |
How long will the strike last? |
Our information is limited to what is reported by Canada Post and through the media. We will monitor for information of the status of the strike as it becomes available to us. |
