Central Huron Fire Department Receives $13,500 Grant from Farm Credit Canada

Central Huron Fire Department Receives $13,500 Grant from Farm Credit Canada for the Purchase of a Turnout Gear Dryer

CENTRAL HURON, ON - The Central Huron Fire Department is proud to announce the receipt of a generous $13,500 grant from Farm Credit Canada (FCC) through their 2023 #FCCAgriSpirit Fund. This funding was used to purchase a new turnout gear dryer. This vital equipment will ensure our essential PPE is dried and returned to service quicker and efficiently.

Turnout gear can absorb harmful chemicals and carcinogens during a fire. Drying the gear thoroughly after cleaning ensures that these contaminants are eliminated, reducing the risk of long-term health problems.

"After fighting a fire, turnout gear often becomes soaked with water, sweat, and other contaminants” said Jeff Lipskie, Fire Chief. “The new turnout gear dryer helps to ensure that firefighters remain safe, healthy, and prepared, while also extending the life of their gear. We are deeply grateful to Farm Credit Canada for their generous support and commitment to our safety."

FCC's #FCCAgriSpirit Fund has been instrumental in supporting rural communities across Canada by providing financial assistance for community improvement projects. The Central Huron Fire Department is honoured to be a recipient of this grant, which reflects FCC's dedication to enhancing the well-being of rural Canadians.
